Family Finder DNA Kits

You may not be aware, but I am the DNA Kit Coordinator for the Guild of One-Name Studies. Most of the Y-DNA kits (applicable to males only) were purchased through the Guild. The results can be seen at

In the last few weeks, the Guild has negotiated a deal for Family Finder kits - a special price of £60.00, which includes postage and handling, worldwide. This price is unique to Guild Members, and their DNA project participants. Several (E)URIDGEs have already completed this Family Finder test.

A Family Finder DNA test is available to males and females. It finds your relatives within 5 generations. It works by comparing your DNA to the DNA of others who have taken a Family Finder test in the Family Tree DNA database. This test uses a mixture of DNA you received from both parents (about 50% from your mother and about 50% from your father).

If you are interested in doing this Family Finder test, do contact me, or read the information from the Guild, available at

Tremain and Uridge Photo Albums

Philip Dorland recently advised that he has three 1800’s Tremain and Uridge photo albums.

Picture from Tremain and Uridge Photo Albums

These photo albums are from the Eleanore Frances (Uridge) Koopman's house in Falmouth, Michigan.  Many of the pictures are from her mother's (Julia Tremain) family. However Owen Uridge is written on one of the photo sleeve.  It is a possibility that more Uridges are included in those albums.

Pictures from the albums have been digitized and uploaded to with the hope that some other family members may have an idea as to the identity of the people.

Website Updated 14 June 2015

The Uridge, Euridge website was updated today Sunday 14 June 2015.

There are now 2,771 detailed narratives available on the website.

Since the last update, 31 new narratives have been created, and 61 narratives changed.

However, overall in the URIDGE, EURIDGE database there are now 3,851 (67 new) people, including living people.

This update focuses on the 430 descendants, and their spouses, of George & Frances Uridge née Lane. In 1851, their son Philip and his wife Sarah née Barton, immigrated to America, with six of their children. They settled in Michigan.
Many thanks to Phil Dorland, who has provided a significant amount of information on the URIDGE family, and the associated families of BADDER; De VRIES; FAWCETT; FISHBURNE; GALLEY; GAY; GETZ; GOODSPEED; HATFIELD; JENNINGS; JOY; KOOPMAN; LAPPARD; MOLHOEK; OLIVER; ORGEN; ORLEMAN; REDMAN; RICKARD; THICK; TREMAINE; and WILLIAMS families.
A full list of the recent changes to the narratives is available in the New or Changed Narratives section.
