Euridge Family Gathering 3-5 July

This weekend was extra special. I met up with my eight siblings (left to right, youngest to oldest) Robin 'Bob', Kay, Kelvin 'Bill', Teresa 'Tess', Terence 'Terry', Richard, Marie 'MeMe', Reginald 'Roger', and Michael. We met up altogether - the first time in 11 years, since our mother's 80th birthday on July 25 2004.

Definitely a good time was had by all. It was great to see all the nephews and nieces, and their children. The weather was brilliant.

Sincere thanks to Kay, and Mick, for holding a superb weekend at their home. and to Marie for organising the food. A truly nostalgic weekend.

Family Finder DNA Kits

You may not be aware, but I am the DNA Kit Coordinator for the Guild of One-Name Studies. Most of the Y-DNA kits (applicable to males only) were purchased through the Guild. The results can be seen at http://www.uridge.org/Euridge_Uridge-p/ui31.htm.

In the last few weeks, the Guild has negotiated a deal for Family Finder kits - a special price of £60.00, which includes postage and handling, worldwide. This price is unique to Guild Members, and their DNA project participants. Several (E)URIDGEs have already completed this Family Finder test.

A Family Finder DNA test is available to males and females. It finds your relatives within 5 generations. It works by comparing your DNA to the DNA of others who have taken a Family Finder test in the Family Tree DNA database. This test uses a mixture of DNA you received from both parents (about 50% from your mother and about 50% from your father).

If you are interested in doing this Family Finder test, do contact me, or read the information from the Guild, available at http://one-name.org/help/guild-wiki/dna-kits-available-from-the-guild/#FamilyFinder.

Tremain and Uridge Photo Albums

Philip Dorland recently advised that he has three 1800’s Tremain and Uridge photo albums.

Picture from Tremain and Uridge Photo Albums

These photo albums are from the Eleanore Frances (Uridge) Koopman's house in Falmouth, Michigan.  Many of the pictures are from her mother's (Julia Tremain) family. However Owen Uridge is written on one of the photo sleeve.  It is a possibility that more Uridges are included in those albums.

Pictures from the albums have been digitized and uploaded to https://www.flickr.com/photos/130354469@N07/ with the hope that some other family members may have an idea as to the identity of the people.
